Coating and lining for pipeline products

Generally, their have series of coating and lining methods besides common anti rust oil or varnish oil painting, take SWCC project for example.Painting of Steel Surfaces general requirements as follow.

Steel surfaces of piping (pipes, fittings, etc), equipment (actuators, cranes, insulation joints, pumps,
tanks, valves, vessels, etc.) and structural steelwork shall be painted as follows:
A) Indoor installation (located in buildings or in shafts)
Steel surfaces for indoor installations shall be coated with a zinc-epoxy primer with a DFT of 80
µm and 2 or 3 coats of an epoxy high solid paint. The total DFT shall be 220 µm.
B) Outdoor installations (located above ground, not in shafts)
Steel surfaces for outdoor installations shall be coated with a zinc-epoxy primer with a DFT of
80 µm and 2 coats of an epoxy high solid paint of 55 µm each. Additionally a two-component
polyurethane finish of 50 µm DFT shall be supplied. The total DFT shall be 240 µm.
C) Underground Installations (not in shafts)
Steel surfaces for under ground installations (not in shafts) shall have externally PE-coating in
accordance with M02 “Polyethylene coating”.

Clients specified standard

The Codes SWCC M20 and Standards referenced herein shall be used those of the latest
edition at the time of detailed design works. The Contractor shall be familiar with
the details of the Standards and other documents referenced herein.
If there is the same parameter with different values occurring in the Standard and
in this Specification, the one mentioned herein shall prevail

The epoxy powder must be suitable for use in the transport of drinking water and
shall not affect adversely the water intended for human consumption. A relevant
certification from an approved laboratory, such as DWI, DVGW, WRC / WRI shall
be submitted. Materials provided shall be products of one (1) manufacturer.
The materials used in the lining systems shall have the following properties:
 excellent resistance to water and disinfectants
 assured performance due to many years track record and third party
testing
