About Aluminum 5052
Aluminum 5052 is an aluminum alloy with magnesium as the primary alloying element, supplemented with a small chromium addition. It has good formability when in the fully soft, annealed temper and can be work-hardened to fairly high strength levels. It is commonly used in a multitude of engineering applications.
Aluminum alloy 5052 contains nominally 2.5% magnesium, 0.25% chromium and has good workability, medium static strength, high fatigue strength, good weldability, and very good corrosion resistance, especially in marine atmospheres. It also has the low density and excellent thermal conductivity similar to other aluminum alloys. Alloy 5052 can be hardened by cold work and is not heat treatable to higher strength.
